The 2012 VSA International Young Soloists Call for Entries is now open!Deadline for Entries: January 31, 2012 Since 1984, the VSA International Young Soloists Program has been seeking to identify talented young musicians who have a disability. The annual award provides an opportunity for up to four emerging musicians to each earn a $5,000 award, professional development opportunities, and a performance at the John F. Fifteen artists will be selected for the exhibition

Smithsonian Institution's S. Dillon Ripley Center in Washington, D.C., and will share $60,000 in cash awards

Call for EntriesAnnouncing the 2011 VSA Playwright Discovery Program Call for Scripts
Application Deadline: April 15, 2011
The VSA Playwright Discovery Program invites middle
and high school students to take a closer look at
the world around them, examine how disability
affects their lives and the lives of others, and
express their views through the art of playwriting.
Playwrights may write from their own experience or
about an experience in the life of another person or
fictional character. Scripts can be comedies,
dramas, or even musicals—be creative! Young
playwrights with and without disabilities are
encouraged to submit a script. Entries may be the
work of an individual student or a collaboration by
a group or class of students.
The winning play will be professionally produced or
staged at the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts. The winning playwright receives
$2,000 and a trip to Washington, D.C., to view his
or her work on stage. All submissions must be
received by April
15, 2011, for consideration.

2011 VSA International
Young Soloists Award
Musicians with disabilities, age 25 and under
2 recipients will each recieve $5,000 and perform at the
Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C.
Musical ensemble of two to eight members may apply. At
least one member must have a disability. All must be age
25 or under.
Deadline to apply: November 15, 2010

VSA 2010 Call for
Writing
Open to students ages 11 - 18
Students with disabilities or a connection to people
with disabilities are encouraged to submit an original
short work of fiction, nonfiction, or poetry that
relates to the theme "capture." Pieces should create
the most complete description possible of a moment in
time, providing the reader with a written snapshot.
Selected entries will become part of the VSA online
writing journal,
Infinite Difference.
Deadline to submit: December 1, 2010
